Huawei Ideos X5: A cheap and powerful Smartphone

Monday February 28, 2011

The Huawei Ideos X5 seems to be that rare beast, a crave-worthy budget smart phone. It should be available in May and rather seems like the love child of the iPhone 3GS and Acer. The 3.8-inch touchscreen has a 480x800-pixel resolution and many videos and Web pages. A 5-megapixel camera with an LED photo light will help you to capture the photos.

The Android 2.2 Web browser is quick and accurate, and it's one of the very few browsers that support Flash. It's has useful apps for a series of Google services, from Gmail to Google Maps.

The most user-friendly OS, especially when you consider the juvenile ease of the iPhone's software. HTC's Sense user interface, seen on phones like the Desire S, is an exception -- we adore its clean, playful design, as well as its valuable widgets.

Outlook
Huawei could have played it safe by letting the Ideos X5 run an intact edition of Android. Instead, it's gone out on a branch, introducing its own version of the software.
